What’s Calling You?

When I was a little girl, I would dream up entire worlds. I saw visions of places I had never been, spoke to invisible friends with wise voices, and imagined lives filled with magic, music, and meaning. To the outside world, I was “too sensitive,” “too imaginative,” or simply “living in fantasy land.”

But deep inside, something greater was stirring.
A quiet knowing.
A sacred whisper.
A calling.

Of course, I didn’t have the words for it then. All I knew was that something inside me felt more real than the world around me. It didn’t always make sense. People tried to talk me out of it. I even tried to talk myself out of it at times.

Today, I understand those childhood dreams weren’t fantasies at all.
They were soul-messages.
They were glimpses of purpose.
They were the seeds of who I came here to be.

And I believe the same is true for you.

Whether you’ve heard a whisper, felt a nudge, or are simply aware that something more is asking for your attention… this is your invitation to listen.

What Is A Calling?

What Is A Calling?calling is a deep inner sense that you are meant to do something specific with your life—something that feels purposeful, meaningful, and often connected to serving others or expressing your unique gifts.

It’s not just a career or a job. A calling is more like a soul invitation. It often shows up as:

  • A persistent nudge or inner voice
  • A dream that won’t let go
  • A sense of restlessness or dissatisfaction with the status quo
  • A powerful attraction to a cause, community, or creative expression
  • A knowing that you’re here for more—even if you don’t yet know what that “more” is

Sometimes callings are clear and loud. Other times, they whisper and unfold slowly. You may feel them early in life, but they can also emerge through crisis, transition, or moments of deep reflection. Callings often require courage because they ask us to stretch, grow, and trust something bigger than logic. They don’t always make sense on paper—but they make soul sense.

So many people I meet these days are confused about their calling.

They’re not lost because they don’t care.
They’re not stuck because they’re lazy.
They’re overwhelmed—because the world is loud.

We live in a time of constant noise: voices telling us who to be, what to do, how to succeed. It’s no wonder that our inner guidance can get drowned out by the expectations, the pressure, and the endless distractions.

When that happens, people stop listening.
They second-guess themselves.
They say, “I don’t know what I’m here for,” and silently wonder if they’re missing something.

And that ache—the one that whispers there’s more—gets buried beneath the weight of daily life.

The place where your calling lives is quiet and powerful.  Is the voice of my soul. It may be quiet. It may not look like anyone else’s. But it is there. And it’s never too late to listen.

5 Ways to Identify Your Calling

5 Ways to Identify Your Calling1. Notice What Keeps Coming Back

That idea you’ve tried to ignore but keeps coming back.  The dream that lingers no matter how often you set it aside. These are not coincidences. They’re breadcrumbs from your soul, gently nudging you toward the path that was always meant for you. Callings are persistent. Even when life gets busy, they return—sometimes in whispers, sometimes in waves—inviting you to pay attention.

2. Pay Attention to What Breaks Your Heart

Your calling often lives where your heart aches most. Is there something in the world that brings you to tears or stirs outrage. Something you feel must change keeps coming to mind. That pain is sacred—it’s pointing you toward your purpose. Whether it’s healing, justice, storytelling, or nurturing, your heartbreak holds a powerful clue about where your gifts are most needed.

3. Remember What Lit You Up as a Child

Before the world told you who to be, what were you drawn to? Did you lose time painting, dancing, pretending to be a teacher, climbing trees, or helping others? Those early passions were not random. They were expressions of your essence—your unfiltered joy. Revisiting them now can reawaken the spark and offer insights into your authentic path.

4. Listen to the Inner Whisper

In stillness, there’s wisdom. That soft inner voice—the one that nudges you when you’re quiet enough to hear—is often drowned out by the noise of expectations and fear. But your true calling speaks in these subtle whispers. Meditation, journaling, and solitude can help you tune in. That whisper isn’t fantasy—it’s your soul speaking truth.

5. Watch for Signs

The Universe is always in conversation with you. A chance meeting. A book that falls off a shelf. Repeating numbers, vivid dreams, meaningful symbols, or even obstacles that reroute your path—these are not accidents. They are guideposts. When you pay attention with curiosity and trust, you begin to see that life is conspiring to lead you home to your purpose.

5 Ways to Answer the Call

Discovery

1. Acknowledge It

The first—and most important—step is simply to say yes. You don’t need to understand every detail or know where the path will lead. Just acknowledging that something within you is stirring, asking to be heard, activates a sacred process. It’s a declaration to yourself and to the Universe: I’m listening. I’m willing. That yes creates energetic momentum and opens the way for guidance to appear.

2. Get Curious, Not Perfect

You’re not being asked to have a perfect plan—you’re being asked to be present and curious. Begin by asking questions. What lights me up? What feels alive in me? What’s one small thing I can explore? Your calling unfolds step by step, not all at once. Let curiosity be your compass, and trust that each small move reveals more of the path.

3. Create Sacred Space to Listen

In a noisy world, it’s easy to miss the messages meant for you. Make time for stillness. Journal your thoughts. Meditate with a hand on your heart. Walk quietly in nature. These moments of spaciousness allow clarity to rise from within. Your soul knows the way—but it needs silence to speak. Make space, and the guidance will come.

4. Surround Yourself with Support

No one is meant to walk this path alone. Find those who see you clearly—friends, mentors, teachers, coaches, communities—people who reflect your light and remind you of your power. The right support system helps you stay grounded in your truth, especially when doubts or fears arise. Your calling is yours to fulfill, but you’re not meant to carry it in isolation.

5. Take Aligned Action

Every step matters. Even the tiniest one—making a phone call, speaking your desire aloud, researching a retreat, applying for something you’ve been drawn to—signals to the Universe that you are ready. Aligned action doesn’t come from force; it comes from resonance. It says, “I trust what I feel. I trust what’s calling me forward.” With each action, the path becomes more clear and more alive.
