During the month of May we celebrate Mother’s Day. It is a time when we honor our biological, adopted and surrogate mothers. It is a time when we remember the incredible and awesome nature of the “mother spirit.” Whether it is in the animal kingdom or the family of human beings, most mothers are fierce protectors of their young. They intuitively know when something is happening with their child. I was always amazed when my mother tuned right into me. This wasn’t always good news for me, but it most certainly reminded me that we were connected in an extraordinary way.

During one of my recent talks I shared that there are three things that “mother love” teaches us:

Out of pain comes creation. There are countless stories of mothers who have lost their children and turned that loss into a noble and powerful mission. MADD – Mothers Against Drunk Driving – is a perfect example. The Irving, Texas–based organization was founded in 1980 by Candice Lightner after her 13-year-old daughter was killed by a drunk driver.

Never take no for an answer. I have seen mothers who have not found the ability to stand up for themselves become powerful voices for their children. They will not “stand down” until they see that justice prevails for their children.

Love holds the high watch. I have counseled many people who are separated from their children. Most of them are apart because of misunderstandings and misjudgments. I am amazed at how many of these people continue to hold the vision that they will come back together. Oftentimes, I am asked to support them in doing their own healing so that space can be created for reconciliation.

I don’t know where you are in your life but I invite you to activate powerful love within you. It doesn’t matter if you are a mother. What is important is that you begin to understand the power of love and how healing it can be in any circumstance. Trust love to create something new out of your pain. Trust love enough to never give up. And trust love enough to hold in your heart the healing of the past.

Please affirm with me: I activate within me a deep and abiding love that transcends all wounds, fears, doubts and unhealed relationships. I open to the possibility that love will always find a way.

Oftentimes people come to me and state that their intention is to heal. The definition of healing is to restore to health and soundness; to set right; restoration of that which is damaged to its normal function; regeneration (spiritual, revival, rebirth); and renewal of any lost part.

“The renewal of any lost part” caught my attention. During challenging times people are often seeking parts of themselves that they think have been lost, stolen or damaged. I believe that we are, inherently, whole, and that at the core of our being, beauty and peace exist. When my clients speak about wanting to heal, we explore the deep desire to remember that they are not broken or damaged goods. We talk about the fact that in every situation there is good and it is leading us back to a state of wholeness. When the Japanese mend broken objects, they fill the cracks with gold. They believe that when something is damaged and has a history, it is more beautiful. What if that were true of us? What if each and every aspect of our life stories was an essential ingredient that made us stronger and more beautiful?

On one of my recent community calls, a young woman shared that she felt that many times we have misconceptions of healing. We think it should be peaceful, blissful and easy. However, healing often requires purging and clearing out old ways of being in order to create space for expansion. Think about your home and how the accumulation of old stuff can create a feeling of constriction. Until you clean out the closets and drawers there is not space for something new. You cannot even see how much space you have until there is a clean area. The same holds true for your life. Challenge can create constriction and lack of clarity. Underneath all of the old behaviors and events there is a space that is waiting to be filled with light, joy, harmony and abundance.

Here are some thoughts to support you in becoming an artist of healing:

Doubts and fears are nothing but energy. See them, acknowledge them and then put your attention on something that supports your health and well-being.

When you feel alone, reach out to people who see your beauty and power. Do not connect with those who will agree that you are a victim.

Remember that change is an evolutionary process and may be slow. Do not judge the speed that you are traveling through the changes.

Clean out your emotional closet by witnessing your non-supportive thought patterns and choosing differently.

Please affirm with me: I am a beautiful masterpiece. I am a master of artful healing and choose a life of grand expression.

There is a lot of conversation on the planet about the fact that we are living in a field of infinite possibilities. Some of the successful authors and teachers tell us that we are called to remember that we have access to the creative power of the universe that is unlimited. The question then becomes, do we really believe that is true and can we operate from this place in all circumstances?

I am just returning from a conference that exemplified stepping out and activating trust for a more expanded life experience. Fifty-seven years ago, the organization of Religious Science experienced a conflict that resulted in an organizational split. Since then there have been numerous conversations and questions about why there have been two groups teaching the same thing: oneness. There have been advocates and pushes for re-connection over the years, but to no avail. However, there was a group of dedicated souls that continued to hold the vision for the possibility of union. This week the two groups met in San Diego, California and I witnessed something miraculous. As they debated by-laws and organizational interactions, there was also a sense of looking for the “limitless possibilities” that were available if they stepped into the unknown. Moments of tension, calls for prayer and passionate presentations filled the space. The result was that 98 percent of the delegates voted for integration. The sense of joy and anticipation was tangible. It made me think that we are all called, at times, to step into a field that feels uncomfortable and yet holds the possibilities of fulfillment. It is in those moments that we are called to review our choices. Will it be fear or faith? Will it be constriction or expansion?

I don’t know where you are in this moment, but I invite you to take a step back and review the lens through which you are viewing your life. Are you willing to consider the possibility of a grand adventure calling you? Are you willing to explore the possibility that the universe is calling you into a greater field of expression? Are you willing to view the discomfort you feel as a nudging to “step out” into unlimited potential and expansion?

I have no idea what will happen with this integrated group, now called Centers for Spiritual Living. However, I have a feeling that this “vote” was really a vote of confidence that “limitless possibilities” for good await us.

Please affirm with me: Today, I boldly step into a place of knowing that I live in a world of infinite possibilities. I actively commit to receiving the good that awaits me.

I was recently around a parent who was teaching their child discipline. When the child would become disruptive and disobedient, the parent would say, “Do you want a time out?” If the child continued, the parent would say, “All right, if you keep this up, you will take a time out.” The child continued and the parent said, “Okay, that’s it! Time out!” They then made the child sit in a place that they were not allowed to get out of until the parent gave permission. Of course, the child was upset even though they were clearly testing the boundaries.

This interaction brought me to thinking about how often I test the boundaries of my life and my body. I am blessed to have a wonderful, full and rich life. Sometimes that means not getting enough rest or taking care of myself in the way that I should. During these times, the universe gives me little warnings in the form of quiet thoughts. “You should take some time to rest.” “Don’t let go of your workouts.” “Stop! You are pushing the envelope.” If I don’t listen, I get to have universal “time outs.” It comes in different forms but often looks like complete fatigue, inability to think clearly or even becoming sick.

I have been participating in a working retreat the last two weeks and it has been amazing. We work for a couple of days and then take another two off. It has shown me the power of scheduled rest times. After the breaks, I return to the meetings clear-headed, rested and extremely creative. These little mini rejuvenation days actually feed me and allow me to be more productive and insightful.

How are you doing with “time outs” in your life? Are you listening to your body when it invites you to rest? Are you taking time out to eat healthy and vibrant foods? Are you committed to taking time for yourself in order to replenish your soul? If the answer to any of these questions is “No,” I invite you to pause for your life. Resist pushing through the boundaries of your mind and body and move into a place of stillness and quietude. The truth is that these moments will give you more energy, more joy and more expanded awareness. Don’t wait for the Universal “time out!” Honor yourself today.

Please affirm with me: Today, I love myself enough to take time to rest and renew my mind, body and spirit.

Let me begin by saying, you are a powerful manifestor!

Every single person on this planet has, at the core of their being, the power to create a life of grace, ease and abundance. Think about it: There are people, including Oprah Winfrey, who had difficult beginnings and yet have created lives that amaze us all. In the last year I have been experiencing a series of miraculous experiences in my life. I want you to know that I believe that this is our natural state of being. Miracles are occurring every day, and when we recognize that truth, we begin to understand the power of co-creation with the Universe.

I have been working with people this month to really create the life that they want. By instituting certain practices and committing to self, I see people shifting in a huge way. I do not believe in resolutions. I think they set us up for failure. Most people I know have forgotten or moved away from resolutions within a month or two. I offer these tools to you and invite you to use them to manifest the life of your dreams.

Step 1: Write down what you are passionate about and what makes your heart sing. Be specific and be aware of how you feel as you write this.

Step 2: Write down behaviors, thoughts and actions that stand in the way of you living this passion.

Step 3 (this is a big one): Write down what you are willing to release in order to live your life of passion.

Step 4: Create a vision prayer. This is to God, Spirit, universe, higher power, Jesus or whomever you consider to be your source. Include your passion, what is in the way and what you are willing to do to receive your best life. Ask for support in a way that you can understand and respond to daily. Give thanks that it is already done. Read this prayer for 90 days and witness the miracles.

Step 5: Monitor your words and actions. The moment you realize that you are out of alignment with your passion and prayer … STOP … read the prayer and begin again. This interruption of “old ways of being” will create new patterns and beliefs.

Step 6: Activate faith. You do not have to know how to fulfill the vision of your life. What if you really were supported by the universe and it has just been waiting for you to be present and trust? (Something to think about.)

I cannot guarantee what will or will not happen if you do this process. What I can tell you is that there will be shifts because you are ready to receive. Join me in this affirmation:

Today, I claim and proclaim that I am READY, WILLING AND ABLE to receive the miraculous life that I came here to live.

I believe this is going to be a fabulous year that is filled with incredible opportunities. I, personally, am focusing on living at a high level of consciousness and choice.

There has been much discussion on how attitude affects experience. Today, I would like to ask us to consider how that focus affects our vibration and therefore informs us what we will attract into our lives.

David Hawkins did a lot of research about beginning to function at a high vibration level (defined as 200 megahertz or higher). Basically, he says that if you correlate with this frequency in thought, word, deed and behavior, you begin to create healthy living.

Recently, there was a challenge in my life that pulled most of my attention. I thought about it, talked about it and prayed about it. Then, one day I spoke to an incredible woman in my life who is an energy coach. She shared with me that the approach that I was taking was lowering my vibration and frequency because it was focused on what was wrong. A great “a-ha” occurred in that moment. By being where I was, I could only become sadder and feel more pain. So, I created a statement that I would use whenever my mind would want to take me into that fear/pain place. I simply called in love and light. I know that sounds simple, and it is!

At first, I said it a lot. Then, it became apparent that I was creating a new habit and thus expanding my vibration and field of positive experience. The shift has been amazing. I now use that energy to place my attention on creating a more powerful and enriching life. I use that energy to be in higher service to myself, others and community.

I invite you to start this year by observing your thought patterns and how they make you feel. If you do not feel joyous, hopeful, expansive or powerful … you are vibrating at a lower frequency. Create your own “energy shift statement.” Make it simple and easy to remember. Notice that when you say it you relax, feel more comfortable or simply smile. Use this statement for 30 days and see what happens. Let me know. I would love to hear your experience of shifting your vibration.

Please affirm with me: Today, I call in the highest vibrations that life has to offer.

Recently, I committed to a deeper spiritual practice. It included contemplating and releasing anything that did not support my highest good. Every morning, 45 minutes was dedicated to only this aspect of my practice. What came forward was a very old belief that no longer served me. I decided to acknowledge and consciously surrender it.

The amazing thing is that shifts began to take place immediately. As I listened and opened to embracing the old paradigm, something else moved in. It was a question: “Are you living in the YES?”

The answer was not a simple one. In most of areas of my life, I am definitely living in the yes of purpose and essence. However, there were these little places that began to come forward that were quiet little fears and doubts that would not allow me to live and express fully.

I have been doing this practice for a few months and I declared that these old beliefs and feelings only have power if I attach to them. So, I acknowledged them and then gently began to replace them with who I know I came here to be. Every time one of these thoughts would come in I would consciously pause and say, “No, I live in the yes of my life. It is powerful, abundant and creative. Please, Universe, show me the Truth of my life. I expect goodness and joy.”

Miraculously, the old feelings/thoughts would dissipate and peace would fill my body and mind. Incredible things began to happen. Invitations, money and acknowledgments of my work took a quantum leap. My calendar for 2011 is almost completely filled with things that are fueled by my passion.

How to start living in the “Yes”

So, where are you in your life? Do you feel like you are on a precipice of greatness and yet you feel stuck? I invite you to stop doing and move into a state of “being.” Expand your inner work. Dedicate more time to your meditation or spiritual practice. Even if it is only 5 more minutes. This act will expand your “container,” the space within you that supports shift. Do not judge what is coming forward or try to push it away. Acknowledge the feeling and then replace it with a “YES.” Yes, I choose to be successful. Yes, I choose to open to my good in miraculous ways. Yes, I am asking to be supported and guided.

Things will come up, but do not give up the practice. The more committed you are, the more you will begin to see the signs that you are guided and supported. You are here for a purpose and if that is true … there must be a delivery system to guide you to greatness. When doubts arise, join me in saying:

“No, I live in the YES of my life. It is powerful, abundant and creative. Please, Universe, show me the Truth of my life. I expect goodness and joy.”

Well, Thanksgiving is here and people are busy preparing for and celebrating the holiday. Wherever you are today, I ask that you join me in giving thanks. I want this time with you to be about practicing gratitude. I am grateful for the opportunity to write and share with you things that are important to me. I am grateful to offer this blog as a place that might be of support and gift you with a remembrance of who you are. I am grateful to be in a position to use my path as a tool for guidance of others.

I am grateful for my life. I am grateful for my husband, my children and grandchildren. I am grateful for my mother and brother being in my life. I am grateful for the many ways that I am called to be present with and for others. I am grateful for being alive and my health. I am grateful for my sight and ability to hear. I am grateful for music and that I can sing and dance. I am grateful for the sun and the moon. I am grateful for the rain and the snow. I am grateful for the animals and the plants. I am grateful for all religions. I am grateful for all people. I am grateful for the many people on this planet dedicated to service. I am grateful for the ancient wisdom that flows eternally in support of humanity. I am grateful for grace. I am grateful for love. I am grateful for kindness. I am grateful for rest. I am grateful for authenticity and generosity.

Please take some precious moments and acknowledge the things that you are grateful for today. If we all do this, we will seed the universe with our joy and it will make a difference.

The wonderful singer/songwriter Jack Fowler wrote a beautiful and simple song about gratitude. I leave you with his words and invite you to stand in gratitude for this beautiful and amazing life.

Grateful, Grateful…I am grateful

For all that I have

All that I am

I am grateful

I’m so grateful

Please affirm with me: Today, I simply give thanks and allow that to be enough.
